Swedish Influence on the Premier League

With the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Manchester, many Swedish fans are now following the Premier League. The Number 9 Striker is one of the most high profile people in Sweden having arrived at Old Trafford with a fierce reputation. Having played for FC Barcelona, Ajax, Milan and PSG the Swedish International is used to being in the spotlight and has started his Manchester United career already scoring in the first 2 games of the Premier League.

Which other Swedish players have made an influence on the Premier League, well we at e-Soccer.com have created a list to discuss these players.

Henrik Larsson

Similar to Zlatan, Henrik Larsson played in several different high profile teams, both of whom played for FC Barcelona and eventually Manchester United. Whilst he only played in the league for 1 year, his influence was enormous.

Henrik will always be known as a Glasgow Celtic Legend but he definitely made an impact in the Premier League even though he only actually scored 3 goals. Whilst he only made 7 appearances on Loan in England’s top flight he will go down in history for his positive impact on the team.

Larrson’s first goal for Manchester United came in the FA Cup game against Aston Vill at Old Trafford.

Fredrick Ljundberg

Part of the Invincible Arsenal team which went unbeaten for 49 games, Ljundberg will go down in Arsenal history and is still a fans favourite. The ex Swedish International played over 10 years in the Premier League, finally ending up with West Ham and having scored over 70 times in 241 appearances. During the 2001-2002 season Ljundberg was arguably the best player for Arsenal’s double winning team, even scoring in the win over Chelsea in the FA Cup final. Playing in the same team as Henry, Overmars, Viera, Petit, Bergkamp and Adams, Fredrick or Freddie as he was called by the fans has probably made the biggest impact in the Premier League by any Swedish football player.
